A board-certified family physician, Dr. David Van is the founder and medical director of McIntosh Trail Family Practice and La Maison Derm Esthetics.   Since its inception in 1987, this unique practice of family practice and cosmetic dermatology has grown to become on of the largest and most respected in metropolitan Atlanta.   Dr. David Van attributes this reputation for providing compassionate, high-quality health care to a commitment to treating other families as he would treat his own.   With a special interest in cosmetic dermatology from the inception, Drs. David and Vicki Van have performed thousands of minor surgical cosmetic procedures over the years.  Dr. David Van prides himself in providing personalized attention to the individual needs of each patient.  To this end, Dr. David Van has assembled extremely devoted staff of top professionals, expertly trained in cosmetic dermatology procedures, whose dedication to quality care is paramount.

A native of New Orleans, Dr. Van attended Jesuit High School and graduated with honors.  He was an honor graduate of both Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and Louisiana State University Medical School, where he was elected to the Aesculapian Honor Society.  After attending medical school, Dr. David Van continued his specialty training in family practice, with a special interest in cosmetic dermatology, training under Dr. Daryl J. Hodgkinson, Plastic Surgeon, at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia.

Numerous times Dr. David Van has been voted one of Spalding County’s Top Doctors and  has been named one of America’s Top Family Doctors for 2002 to present by the National Consumer Research Council. In addition to those honors, Dr. David Van has received teaching awards in recognition of his dedicated training of medical students and physician assistants.

Dr. David Van is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a diplomat of the Board of Family Practice, and a clinical assistant professor at Mercer Medical School.  He also serves as preceptor for Emory University and University of Georgia medical schools.

+Community Service

Using his background and skills to benefit the common good, Dr. David Van is proud to be one of the founders of the Hope Health Clinic, a volunteer medical facility serving Spalding County’s underprivileged residents. He has traveled to South America as part of a medical mission, and channels his expertise and experience into various other medical missions throughout the world. He generously gives back to his local community through service in the Daybreak Rotary Club. His latest contribution to the community is in the form of Lasers4Literacy, where all income generated at La Maison Derm Esthetics on a specified day goes to the Adult Literacy Program in the state of Georgia.

The doctor is married to Vicki C. Van, M.D., who is also a partner at La Maison Derm Esthetics.  They have two children, David and Lauren.  During his free time, Dr. Van enjoys playing golf, participating in outdoor water sports, and having fun with his family.
