Fractional Skin Resurfacing
The Palomar Lux 1540 Skin Resurfacing treatment offers hope to many people with acne scarring and to those requiring deep correction and an even skin tone.

Three treatments, completed at three week intervals, with this new technology will give you the same results as a CO2 Laser resurfacing procedure but with NO DOWNTIME. The CO2 Laser resurfacing treatment is a surgical procedure, which requires anesthetic sedation and at least two weeks downtime when your skin looks much like a severe burn. During the two weeks downtime the patient is required to apply thick coats of Vaseline. But not with the Palomar Lux 1540 Fractional. No downtime, no burned look, no Vaseline, and at a fraction of the cost!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Fractional Skin Resurfacing?

A: Fractional Photothermolysis Technology is considered the "NEXT GENERATION" in skin tightening technology. The Lux 1540 uses Fractional Technology where each pulse is delivered in an array of focused "microbeams". This treats the epidermis and dermis with minimal to no heat damage to the surrounding tissue and stratum corneum. Subsequent regrowth of cells and new collagen expression from neighboring healthy tissue during the healing process provides a quicker remodeling process, with little to no downtime.

Q: Is it safe?

A: The process is cleared by the FDA for soft tissue coagulation. Adding to patient safety and comfort is Active Cooling Contact, in which the skin is continually cooled throughout treatment by the handpiece tip.

Q: Will it radically change my appearance?

A: No, this is not plastic surgery. There will be a firming up of the area treated dependant on your natural healing process. If you are healthy and a non-smoker you will get better results than someone who is not in good health and a smoker. Friends and family might just think you look rested and healthy!

Q: Can I go back to work after my treatment?

A: Yes, you will have redness and tenderness for a few days on the area treated and that is the only side effect. Application of cool washcloths after the treatment will help significantly.

Q: How soon can I expect to see results?

A: Benefits develop over a period of time and 3 to 5 treatments are suggested, however, after just 2 treatments most people can see some improvements. Full results will be seen after 6 to 9 months.

Q: When will I need another treatment?

A: The manufacturers suggest a series of 3 treatments with one treatment every 3 weeks.

Q. What areas can be treated?

A: The face, neck, abdomen, upper arms, and any area where you might have scarred skin will respond well to treatments.

Q: Can I have the procedure done if I am using Retin-A ?

A: Discontinue use of all Retin-A type products a week prior to the treatment and do not use them until you have completed the series of Fractional Treatments.

Q: I am using Accutane. Can I get the Fractional done?

A: No, we do not treat patients who are using Accutane.
