LaMaison Signature Peel

A blend of Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Salicylic Acid, and Retin-A offer the perfect peel for
sun damaged skins of all ages.

TCA: Dermatologists use TCA to treat per-cancerous lesions on the skin. Using our Visia Computerized Photo Complexion Analysis we can show you the sun damage lurking just underneath your epidermis. It is not a case of "if that sun damage surfaces, it is a case of "when." The sooner we treat it for you, the better. Using TCA can help to reduce your risk of pre-cancerous lesions.
Salicylic Acid: Pores respond well to an intense treatment of salicylic acid, which acts like a Roto-rooter in the pores, cleaning them out. Even after one treatment of our Signature Peel there is a marked difference in the pores ... our Visia proves it!

Retin-A: A 0.4% Retin-A is applied to the skin as the final application of the peel. Retin-A,
according to a Mayo Clinic report on anti-aging, is the safest product to use long term.
Retin-A also helps to regenerate new collagen, and normalizes the way the sebaceous glands
work.

During the week following the application of our Signature Peel, your skin will peel.   We
encourage our patients to think, "Peeling is my friend." The sloughing off of the old, dead, sun
damaged skin reveals fresh, younger-looking skin with tighter pores.

Signature Peel Treatment
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a Signature Peel?
A: The Signature Peel is a chemical peel with the benefits of TCA, salicylic acid and Retin-A, to provide a strong peel appropriate for most skins. Our Signature Peel is clinically proven to reduce visible signs of aging and is invaluable to acne-prone skin.   Dermatologists use TCA to treat pre-cancerous places on the skin. Salicylic acid cleans out pores and is used in the treatment of acne prone skin. Retin-A, according to a Mayo Clinic report on anti-aging, is the safest product to use long term. Retin-A is used as an acne treatment and an anti-aging product.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: We suggest a series of 6 peels - one every three weeks. Follow-up treatments are suggested to continue to improve your skin's texture and tone, lessen fine lines, and maintain a more youthful appearance. Regularly removing dead and damaged cells from your skin helps prevent adult acne.

Q: How painful is it?

A: The Signature Peel will burn or tingle for a few minutes. During the peeling process, which last about one week, most people experience tightness, then peeling and further tightness and redness. Although the peeling process is not pleasant, most people are delighted with the end result and return for more treatments!

Q: Do I have to do anything special before the treatment?

A: One week before your treatment, avoid the following procedures: electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, and laser hair removal.   Two or three days before your Signature Peel stop using Retin-A®, Renova®, Differin® (Adapalene 0.1%), Tazorac® and products containing Retinol, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA), Benzyl Peroxide or any exfoliation agent.

Q: Can I have a treatment if I am pregnant?

A: We do not treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q: Is there anything I need to do while I am peeling?
A: Avoid strenuous exercise while peeling. Wash with a gentle cleanser or a cleanser that does not contain soap. Apply Obagi Action to relieve excess dryness and tightness.   Spritzing the face often with LaRoche Posay Thermal Spring Water will ease and soothe the skin. Avoid wearing foundations after the treatment and during the time the skin is actually peeling, as they contain ingredients that are greasy, fragranced, and irritating.  Rather use mineral make up which does not contain oils and helps to conceal redness. Do not pick or pull the peeling skin as this could cause scarring. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 20 and avoid direct sunlight and other facial treatments for at least 1 week after you have finished peeling. Resume regular use of Retin-A, or AHA products and bleaching creams after the peeling is completed.

Q: I've had a Glycolic Peel. How is this peel different?

A: The Glycolic peel "unglues" dead and damaged cells. This peel works actively on sun damage and especially pre-cancerous places on the skin. You will peel extensively for a week, so we suggest that you do it at a time when you are not having family photos done, or going to a wedding!

Q:
When can I get my next peel?
A: A peel every three weeks will give you the best results.   Allow your skin care professional to help you decide.

A: We do not treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q: When will my skin begin to peel following the treatment?
A: Forty eight hours after the application of the peel your skin will begin the peeling process. This is helpful in planning your peel to fit in with your schedule. Peeling will last for two to three days depending on the amount of dead and damaged cells you have on your face. If the peel is performed in other areas, for example the back, chest, or arms, peeling will not begin for two weeks, as the skin is thicker in those areas.

Q:
Is there anything I need to do while I am peeling?
A: Avoid strenuous exercise during this time. Wash your face gently with a gentle cleanser or a cleanser that does not contain soap. Apply light moisturizer to relieve excess dryness and tightness.  Avoid wearing foundations after the treatment and during the time the skin is actually peeling, as they contain ingredients that are greasy, fragranced, and are irritating to the skin. Do not pick or pull the peeling skin. Pulling it off could cause scarring or rashes. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 20 and avoid direct sunlight and other facial treatments for at least 1 week after your peel. Resume regular use of Retin-A, or AHA products and bleaching creams after the peeling is completed.

Q: When can I get my next peel?

GLYCOLIC PEELS

Using 70% and 99% strength glycolic acid, this peel is the ideal lunch-time peel. Gylcolic Acid literally unglues dead and damaged cells which are removed after the appointed time, leaving your skin fresh and revitalized. Gentle enough to use every three weeks, this is the ideal way to improve cellular turnover. Regular use can help protect your skin from retention hyperkeratosis.

Glycolic Peel Treatment
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a Glycolic Peel?

A: The Glycolic peel gives your skin the benefits of alpha-hydroxy acid, and is suitable for all skin types. Of all the alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA's), Glycolic Acid has emerged as the most popular. Glycolic Peels in 70% and 99% strengths will lightly peel your skin without making your skin look like you are peeling because it works by "ungluing" the outer layer of dead skin cells. This helps cell turnover because removing the built-up top layers of skin allows healthier skin cells to come to the surface. Removing the dead layer improves the skin's texture and color, unclogs pores, and allows better absorption of your skin care products.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: The manufacturers suggest a series of 6 peels to help improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin, dry skin, and thickened skin caused by a variety of factors, including smoking and heavy moisturizers. Research shows that Glycolic Peels can improve the appearance of skin discolorations, increase collagen production, and reinforce the barrier function of skin.

Q: Why can't I just use a scrub?
A: Glycolic Peels produce much better results than cosmetic scrubs which work only on the exposed surface of the skin and tend to scratch the skin. With a Glycolic Peel there is no risk that you will lose too much skin because it does not keep on exfoliating away layers of skin without stopping. Technically, there is a drop-off rate, meaning that the peel will only exfoliate dead and damaged skin, leaving the healthy skin in tact. You emerge with a lovely, polished look.

Q: Do I have to do anything special before the treatment?

A: One week before your treatment avoid the following procedures: electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, and laser hair removal.   Two or three days before your peel stop using Retin-A®, Renova®, Differin® (Adapalene 0.1%), Tazorac® or any products containing Retinol, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA), Benzyl Peroxide or any exfoliation agent.

Q: Can I have a treatment if I am pregnant?

A: We do not treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q: When will my skin begin to peel following the treatment?

A: Usually the peeling is done during the treatment and all dead skin is removed before you leave following your treatment. Slight peeling may occur 2 or 3 days following your peel.

Q: Is there anything I need to do after my peel?

A: Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 20 and avoid direct sunlight and other facial treatments for at least 1 week after your peel. Resume regular use of Retin-A, or AHA products and bleaching creams after any further peeling is completed, usually after 2 to 3 days.

Q: When can I get my next peel?

A: The manufacturers suggest once a week, but this is dependant on what skin care products you are using.   Allow your skin care professional to help you decide what is best for your skin.

The Obagi Blue Peel®

When it comes to your skin, there are many reasons to get the BLUES - blemishes, acne scars, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and sun damage, to name a few. If you want healthier, smoother looking skin, the Obagi Blue Peel® might be for you.   After 6 weeks of preparing the skin with the Obagi Nu-Derm® Skin Care Regimen, the Obagi Blue Peel® is applied in the office by Dr. David Van. The Obagi Blue Peel® can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs. Immediately after the procedure, a bluish tint remains on your skin, which will usually wash off in 12 to 24 hours. Peeling begins in 2 to 3 days and will continue over the next several days and should be healed in an average of 7 to 10 days. Skin continues to improve for the next 4 to 6 weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.
